WIP Wednesday for BQF

First - don't forget to head over and enter my lovely book giveaway if you haven't already (thanks Stash Books). Although I warn you that you might end up liking using a little embroidery in your quilts. I'm a convert I tell you.

Despite constantly meaning to, I never seem to get around to sharing with you BQF's quilting escapades. But she's busy working on a quilt at the moment that I have on my To Do list, and that I thought you would like to see.

It's this great chevron/zigzag quilt put together using jelly rolls (I love me a jelly roll) with the odd charm square thrown in. You can download the pattern from Moda Bakeshop here. It has a lot of chain piecing, which is very therapeutic.

Don't you just love those little flags?

Then it has a lot of laying out, which is not quite so therapeutic. This is what the painstakingly laid out quilt pieces look like after Roger the cat has been left at home with them. Not only that, but apparently BQF's wee man had a incident with his remote controlled car. "Mummy the car just ran over the qwuilt.*  But it's okay mummy, I fixed it". Or not. Bad car.

Probably not enough to convict Roger, but the claw marks in the fabric were a hint ...

This is Roger.  Here he looks like butter wouldn't melt, right?  I understand it was pretty touch and go as to whether he would be returning to the SPCA after his initial quilting effort.  Naughty Roger. But here he insists it was nothing to do with him. Those claw holes in the fabric must have been made by some ferocious cloth beast. Or something. Whatever it was, he's guarding the quilt so it doesn't happen again.

What are you looking at, huh?

BQF is using Reunion by Sweetwater for Moda for the fabric. It's to go on her hubby's boat/yacht thingie (he's a mad sailing buff) so it is very in theme.  I'm thinking it would be an awesome pattern for my Lorax jelly roll.

Linking up to all the mid week linky parties!  Howdy visitors!

* not a typo! That's how he says it. Cute, right?!

Omg. I have a very similar after-cat layout photo somewhere on my blog. I think cats go to some secret cat workshops where they share ideas for how to be as annoying as possible! That quilt pattern looks great.

We quilters love our pets, even when they *FRUSTRATE* us (everything I make has its share of lab hair...and cat hair)! Fun design layout, thanks for sharing!

I love the post-cat picture. I don't lay things down until the kids are in bed, but I also have cats. And sadly, they don't stay in their beds. :/

Gotta love a chevron quilt with strips. I just constructed one recently only using yardage. Was happy with the way it turned out although I forgot to take good photos. I'm not so keen on the half sq triangle ones. Yours looks beautiful.

I love the chevron quilt. I have been wanting to make one. I use to have an indoor cat and seems like they always like to get in the middle of everything you do. Mine would always get on my newspaper when I spread it out to read.

Love the quilt...and the Roger story.

Must be a tabby thing...my Leo does that, only somehow he gets them off the design sheet hanging on the wall. I'm always coming back to blocks on the floor, under the bed, on the bed, in the closet. :)

My son has done that to a quilt I laid out once. Now I wait until he goes to bed to do that haha.

After my cat did that a couple of times, I've learned to send him to jail during that phase of construction. Now he gets locked in a bedroom until everything is all sewn together. I don't even feel sorry for him. He did the crime.......

haha! I love the cat's face. My (75 lb.) dog has walked across my backing when I was basting on the floor before, and that is so frustrating! It looks great though. I've never done a chevron with strips before!

Thank you so much for linking up with Needle and Thread Thursday!
